During the first week of the temporary closure, October 26–November 1, you can still experience Alcatraz from the water aboard our 90-minute San Francisco Bay Discovery Cruise, featuring up-close views of Alcatraz Island along with other iconic San Francisco landmarks.

The island is anticipated to temporarily close for approximately three and a half weeks beginning October 26. The anticipated reopening date is currently scheduled for November 19.
The closure is needed to complete repairs to the island’s ferry dock. This work will strengthen the dock system, support consistent access, and help visitors continue to experience Alcatraz Island for years to come.
All Alcatraz Island tours scheduled from October 26 through November 18 are affected and will not operate.

A 90-minute San Francisco Bay Discovery Cruise is available from October 26 through November 1, subject to availability. The cruise includes views of Alcatraz Island and other San Francisco landmarks but does not dock at Alcatraz.
